A design was required to add interest and focus to a fairly private garden with more opportunity for planting as well as an area for children to play and entertain friends.
The design divided the garden into three areas, moving from year-round interest by the house to wilder planting with strong foliage contrasts at the far end. The mood changes from a terracotta Mediterranean eating area with a raised pond which is linked by gravel paths to the more natural shady area at the end. Scent and contrast with emphasis on low maintenance and a link with neighbouring trees were all achieved here.
